ABOUT US
Simmply Active is a community organisation dedicated to improving health, wellbeing, and social connection through accessible sport, fitness, and support programmes.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we believe everyone should have access to opportunities that help them live healthier, happier, and more connected lives, regardless of their background, circumstances, or financial situation.
Working across Essex and surrounding communities, we deliver inclusive programmes that reduce barriers to participation and create opportunities for people to improve their physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, and sense of belonging. Our work also supports vulnerable and at-risk young people through early intervention, mentoring, education, and positive activities.

THERE SHOULD BE NO PRICE TO HEALTH.
our mission
“Our objective is to create social, sporting and work experiences that will install confidence and motivation for children providing them with opportunities and pathways towards a positive future."
In 2016, Director David Simmons was working in a primary school in Edmonton where he has approached and threatened by a 6 year old with a knife. Moving away from teaching in London, he went and taught P.E in Harlow.
Due to an influx in crime in Harlow, particularly preying on the youth, he curated Changing Lives with the aim of reducing youth crime across Harlow. David set up a singular program, using sports and physical activity as a hook to get these young people off the street, mixing in youth mentoring and workshops from local providers such as Essex Police and the NHS.
After many successful years mentoring and promoting positive pathways in Harlow, David set up another Heartbeat Hub in Colchester in 2023, which is now Simmply Active’s hub and headquarters.
Today, this commitment to early intervention continues through Simmply Project UK, supporting vulnerable and at-risk young people through mentoring, education, positive activities, and knife crime and youth violence prevention initiatives.
